White uses a multitude of sources to create his very informative daily report that includes Current Temperatures, both at the ski town (Hirafu) and higher elevations (Top Station of the resort's ski lifts), Wind Speed, Snow last 24 hours, Wind Direction, Snow to Date, Visibility, Lift Status of all Niseko's interconnected ski areas, Avalanche Report and Weather Report.
White also states at the foot of every Niseko Snow Report:
Snow report information is compiled and interpreted from various Japanese weather sites and models made current for the day and the 3-5 day outlook.
Snow fall 24hr periods are measured at approximately 7.30am daily in Hirafu Village base lifts and data from the avalanche report which indicates accumulations at both the base of Moiwa and the 1000 metre level.
Further on mountain observations are also included and like any ski resort, more intense snow accumulations occur at mid and upper mountain elevations of average approximations of 20%.
These approximations are conservative. Hence, base lift depth historically speaking is almost 50% less on any given year than mid to top station snow pack.
