NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS SET TO MAKE A SPLASH IN SYDNEY

More than 500 of Australia’s best swimmers will converge on Sydney Olympic Park next month for the 2015 Australian Swimming Championships. The Championships will be conducted over eight days, from 2-10 April, with heats and finals conducted each day.

The event is expected to attract thousands of competitors and spectators and is supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

Swimming Australia Chief Executive Officer Mark Anderson said the Australian Swimming Championships is a great opportunity to see our swimmers on home soil, before they take to the international stage for the World Championships in Kazan in August this year.

“I would encourage everyone to get along to Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre to watch our swimmers and the team take the next step on their journey. This is the time to get behind the Australian Swim Team and enjoy what is set to be a fantastic week of competition,” Mr Anderson said.

This is the first time the Australian Swimming Championships event has been held in Sydney since 2011, and Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said it was great to see this event return to Sydney in 2015.
