LES MISÉRABLES PREMIERES IN SYDNEY

Sydney audiences were treated to the premiere of Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Les Misérables last night at the Capitol Theatre. The event was secured for Sydney by Destination NSW. The new production, set against the backdrop of a 19thcentury revolutionary France, featured glorious modernised staging, orchestrations and dazzlingly reimagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo.

Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said: “I’m delighted this special 30 year anniversary season of Les Misérables has officially launched in Sydney with a truly spectacular opening night.

I encourage those who are yet to purchase tickets to do so now as it is a wonderful production.”

“The show’s season is set to have a big impact on local tourism and is estimated to attract more than 91,000 visitors to Sydney, injecting around $32 million in visitor expenditure over six months,” Ms Chipchase said.
