FLY HIGH IN THE ILLAWARRA

Australia’s highest zipline has been launched at Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures. A whopping 34.8 metres off the ground, or 10 stories high, the zipline offers breathtaking views of the Illawarra region. The state-of-the-art Zipline Tour is the result of a $1 million investment from the Merlin Entertainments Group.

General Manager of Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures Neredith Elliot said Merlin was excited to finally open the zipline to the public.

“The Illawarra is one of the most breathtaking regions in Australia and we are hoping the addition of the Zipline Tour, which complements our existing Treetop Walk, creates yet another unique reason to visit this amazing area,” Ms Elliot said.

“Featuring a series of integrated cables spanning 247 meters, the all-new Zipline Tour allows you to sail through the treetops and soak up the breathtaking panoramic views – from the lush tree tops right out to the Pacific Ocean.”

“Not only will the opening of the attraction encourage new visitors, it has also created job opportunities for six local residents who have been trained as professional zipline guides.”

Councillor Brian Petschler, Mayor of Kiama, said the addition of the zipline was a welcome boost to the local tourism economy.

“We hope that the addition of Illawarra Fly’s Zipline Tour will appeal to a broader market of holiday makers looking for a bit more zing in their sightseeing,” he said.
