Con Chim Islet - Community-based Tourism in Tra Vinh Province (Southern of Vietnam) has been named in Top 12 prestigious ESD OKama Award for sustainable development organised and recognized by Japan - according to Dr. Ta Duy Linh, Director of the Institute for Economic and Tourism Development Research (Ho Chi Minh City).

Thereby, the application dossier of the Con Chim Islet - Community-based Tourism site has surpassed 267 nomination dossiers from 70 countries and territories around the world. The Con Chim Islet - Community-based Tourism site appears in Top 12 prestigious ESD OKama Award and will continue to be nominated into the Top 5.

This is an award to recognize activities on education for sustainable development (ESD), carried out in Japan and selected countries annually. In addition to showcasing exemplary ESD practices around the world, the award also aims to further promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as ESD is a key factor in achieving all of the goals.

Con Chim Islet - Community-based Tourism in Tra Vinh is one of the typical destinations of Tra Vinh province, put into operation since 9th September 2019.

Con Chim is an island hamlet in Hoa Minh commune, Chau Thanh district, about 15 km from Tra Vinh city centre following National Highway 53 downstream. Most of the people of Con Chim live on farming; agricultural production is in accordance with nature, so this place retains its wild, rustic features and fresh air.
