MILE-HIGH MARGARITAS AND CHOCOLATE WAFFLES! VIRGIN AUSTRALIA LAUNCHES NEW RETAIL ONBOARD AND BUSINESS CLASS MENUS

chocolate waffles and corn chips and salsa
Virgin Australia is inviting passengers to have a food fiesta in the skies with its brand new Economy Class buy on board menu for summer. Available from today, passengers for the first time will be able to enjoy Batched Salted Grapefruit Margaritas and Papa Salt Gin Palomas whilst snacking on chocolate waffles and corn chips and salsa at 35,000 feet.

The new items come as the airline revamps its inflight menu for summer, across both Economy and Business Class, offering passengers not just variety and great value mid-flight, but a unique and exciting selection that can’t be found anywhere else in the skies.

On select flights, travellers can now indulge in new inflight meals from the popular The Street Food Co., featuring options like spinach and ricotta cannelloni and honey chicken fried rice. For a sweet treat, passengers can enjoy hot Belgian chocolate waffles or the decadent Byron Bay Triple Choc Cookies.

Virgin Australia has also introduced digital receipts for onboard purchases and can be conveniently downloaded after the flight by visiting virginaustralia.com/onboardreceipts and entering the flight date, flight number and the last four digits of the physical or digital card used.

As part of the Economy experience, guests will continue to receive complimentary Madame Flavour tea, Grinders coffee and water.

Showcasing fresh, locally sourced Australian ingredients, the new Business Class summer menu reflects a contemporary Australian palette with a fresh cafe feel featuring fresh seasonal offerings, which are nutritious, no fuss and full of flavour.

The new menu, available from November 20, has been thoughtfully crafted and rigorously taste-tested, with highlights including:
  • Waffle with rhubarb mascarpone, strawberries and maple syrup
  • Passionfruit mango pancake stack
  • Chicken noodle salad with nuoc nam dressing
  • Beef quesadilla with charred corn salsa
  • Pork in sticky lemon sauce with aged rice and vegetables
  • Southern-style chicken with potato wedges, vegetables and boscaiola sauce
  • Salted caramel slice

All menu selections in Business Class will have vegetarian options, in addition to a protein selection on every flight.

Virgin Australia’s General Manager Product and Customer Strategy, Ali Dunn, said the airline’s enhanced onboard food offering reflects its commitment to providing travellers with greater choice and quality, elevating the overall flying experience.

"Delivering the highest quality in-flight experience is at the core of what we do, and this extends to our menus. We’ve curated a diverse selection of meals and snacks that highlight premium Australian produce and cater to a variety of tastes.

“From refreshing beverages to delicious new meal options in both Economy and Business Class, our inflight dining has something for everyone. Plus, our award-winning cabin crew, known for their exceptional service, are integral to the process, providing valuable input during taste tests."

Dunn also announced the introduction of digital receipts for onboard purchases, offering passengers an easier way to track their transactions. "This is part of our ongoing commitment to innovation and enhancing the convenience of travel with Virgin Australia," she added.
