Maya Bay Reopens with A Renewed New Focus On Sustainable Tourism and Eco-Conscious Practices

Maya Bay reopened on October 1 with strict conservation rules, limiting visitors and promoting eco-friendly practices to protect Thailand’s iconic destination.

Maya Bay in Thailand, a renowned tourist destination reopened on October 1 after a two-month closure aimed at environmental restoration. Park authorities have introduced strict guidelines to ensure a sustainable balance between tourism and conservation efforts, including limiting the number of daily visitors and promoting eco-friendly practices.

The reopening also includes enhanced safety protocols and regulated boat access to safeguard the bay’s fragile ecosystem.

On September 30, the Academic and Planning team from the Underwater Operations Unit at Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, located in Krabi Province, placed fish egg buoys to establish a boundary, preventing tour boats from entering the waters near Maya Bay, Phi Phi Islands, in the Ao Nang Subdistrict, Mueang Krabi District.
