First, however, I need to let you know that Mr. Jens Thraenhart has officially stepped down as Executive Director/CEO of the Mekong Tourism Forum Coordinating Office. He will still serve his notice period based on the MTCO Executive Director contract, to ensure a smooth transition of MTCO operations and affairs. MTCO has put out a statement, which can be accessed here.
As MTCO Operations Manager, on behalf of the travel and tourism stakeholders of the Mekong Region and the Tourism Working Group, I would like to thank Mr. Thraenhart for his seven years of service, and his commitment and passion to further regional tourism collaboration in Southeast Asia.
Under his leadership, the MTCO has enthusiastically harnessed technology, digital tools, and social media to increase its visibility and impact, and has expanded knowledge sharing among its networks. Mr. Thraenhart has a passion for sustainability and responsible tourism development and has been very successful in making Mekong Tourism much more than a brand name and global best practice. He helped established Mekong Tourism as a knowledge hub with an effective governance structure and a clear mandate recognised across all Mekong countries.
The initiatives of the private sector platform Destination Mekong will continue to provide value to the industry, in particular small businesses, during these challenging times.
I personally would like to thank Mr. Thraenhart for his mentorship and his guidance during my time as MTCO Operations Manager and appreciate the opportunity to have served under his leadership.
With best regards,
Nattakorn Asunee Na Ayudhaya
