Australia’s best mountain bike riders will gear up to compete in a major enduro race series in Regional NSW, with seven NSW cities to host a series of one-day mountain bike events starting in Bathurst on 17 April. The NSW Government is supporting the 2016 Evocities MTB (Mountain Bike) Series through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport Stuart Ayers said events like the Evocities MTB Series provide valuable support to local communities and also help the NSW Government achieve its goal of doubling overnight visitor expenditure to the State by 2020.
“Hosting events in our region provides a wonderful opportunity for visitors to enjoy our fantastic accommodation, local restaurants and exciting attractions, and we look forward to welcoming riders and spectators and showcasing all that’s on offer,” Mr Ayres said.
The seven races are estimated to attract approximately 4200 participants and visitors to cities with a combined service population of over one million people in Regional NSW.
Now in its second year, the Evocities MTB Series will be held across Bathurst, Albury, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga, Dubbo, Armidale and Orange between April and November 2016.
