New Tourism Ireland Titanic video about the ship’s home town marks 104th anniversary

It’s said that while Titanic was being built, you could see it rise from the docks from anywhere in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The city has attracted 2.5 million visitors interested in the Titanic between 2012 and 2015, and is home to the world’s largest Titanic exhibition, Titanic Belfast.

The new video lists 10 great immersive experiences, such as exploring the imprint that has been left on the city since the Titanic was launched, different ways you can tour the Titanic Quarter and even where to dine out on a menu based on the last meal served on board the Titanic in 1912.

The 82-second video is now on YouTube and available to share on online and across social media, where there has been considerable Titanic chatter over the past weeks.

Fast facts:
  • Over three million rivets where used in building Titanic’s hull.
  • In 1912, the cost of building the Titanic was approximately $7.5million – the equivalent of $400 million in today’s money.
  • The dry dock in which the Titanic was built in Belfast was fitted out in order to hold 21 million gallons of water.
