Nothing could stop the New Year celebrations in Dubai, as in the stroke of midnight multi coloured fireworks enveloped the Dubai skies along with flames from the luxury 63 storied hotel Address that burnt at one side of the Burj Khalifa. All the residents of the hotel were evacuated before the fire took a fearsome shape. 14 people were injured however some local news sources reported that more than 60 people were injured.
In Australia people gathered around Sydney Harbour to see an impressive display of fireworks set off from the Sydney Opera House, Sydney harbour bridge and from 7 barges on the harbour.

London lived up to what it had promised. 10,000 people watched the fireworks display by the River Thames with thick police security.
Munich was on high alert as there were terror threats in the city but Berlin saw traditional firework show with a five minute video performance at the Arc de Triomphe along the Champs-Elysees.
Egypt celebrated with fireworks in front of the pyramid near Cairo. Russia celebrated over Red Square in Moscow.
