Singleton Arts and Music Society Celebrates 30th Birthday by SBS Youth Orchestra Concert

The Singleton Arts and Music Society (SAMS) is celebrating its 30th birthday this year.  To help celebrate it is presenting three special concerts.

The first concert will be held this Sunday 7 April at 2pm. The SBS Youth Orchestra will performing at the Civic Centre, Singleton, NSW Australia.

A former Singleton resident Brenton McChennan is a member of the orchestra and will be appearing with them in Singleton under the baton of conductor Thomas Tsai with a solo pianist performing Rachmaninov’s second piano concerto.

Admission to all school children for this performance will be free as Xstrata Coal has kindly given $2000 in sponsorship.

The second concert will be held on Bastille Day Sunday 14 July at McAuley Hall, St Catherine’s Catholic College at 2pm and is a performance by George Washingmachine, a four piece gypsy and swing jazz band. This performance will be part of the Singleton Arts festival and is called “Feel the Manouche”.

The third concert is to be held on Sunday 8 September at the Singleton Youth Venue at 2pm and it will be the Australian Duelin Piano Show consisting of two baby grand pianos and one drummer playing under a black chandelier. This concept originated in New Orleans and is a fun gig with plenty of pop music being played.
