Your BIG Holiday Adventure Starts in Dallas

Bigger, bolder, brighter. These words describe Dallas any time of year, but they’re especially true during the holiday season. From magical musical performances to sparkling city lights, Dallas offers festive holiday fun for the whole family.

For the second year, the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau introduces BIG D Holiday, a partnership with arts institutions and area attractions to showcase a full array of enchanting events – both holiday activities and ground-breaking exhibits worth visiting any time of year – for locals and visitors to enjoy.

October 31 – February 21
Creatures of Light: Nature’s Bioluminescence, Perot Museum of Nature and Science

Creatures of Light explores the magical world of “living light” – mesmerizing organisms with the ability to glow – from flickering fireflies and fluorescent mushrooms to sparkling deep-sea creatures. From dinosaurs to DNA, unwrap your holiday curiosity at the Perot Museum.

November 8 – January 3
Holiday at the Arboretum, Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

Celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with the magnificent 12 Days of Christmas outdoor exhibit – twelve 25-foot Victorian-style gazebos with charming costumed characters, music and more – and The Artistry of the Nativity at the historic DeGolyer House. And enjoy a stroll through the gardens on select evenings, aglow with half a million twinkling lights.

November 9 – January 17
Portraits: History Lived, The Sixth Floor Museum

The assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The chaotic aftermath. So many lives changed and forever immersed in the pages of history. Portraits: History Lived comprises current photographs of people who witnessed that fateful day and acknowledges the importance of their stories to our shared history.

November 11 through the Holidays
Peter Pan 360, AT&T Performing Arts Center

Experience Neverland in a whole new way with an innovative stage production of Peter Pan 360 that combines intimate theater-in-the-round, overhead projection, actors in dazzling flying sequences and whimsical puppets, all bringing this classic tale to fantastical life.

November 19-21
Chi Omega Christmas Market, Fair Park

This unique luxury gift marketplace brings together 175 specialty vendors offering a wide variety of hard-to-find items including jewelry, home and holiday décor, chic women’s fashions, toys and more.

November 19 – January 3
A Season of Stories: Christmas at the White House 2003, George W. Bush Presidential Center

Great stories have a way of bringing families together. A Season of Stories will offer visitors a glimpse into the magical White House celebrations of 2003, including a full-size reproduction of the official White House Christmas tree and delightful décor featuring beloved storybook characters.

November 20 – March 20
Jackson Pollock: Blind Spots, Dallas Museum of Art

This once-in-a-lifetime exhibition, only the third major U.S. museum exhibition to focus solely on the artist hailed as “the greatest painter this country has ever produced,” is the largest survey of Jackson Pollock’s black paintings ever assembled. Exclusively on view in Dallas, it includes works that have not been exhibited for more than 50 years from an understudied yet pivotal period in the artist’s career.

November 20 – December 20
Miracle on 34th Street, Dallas Children’s Theater

The Dallas Children’s Theater transforms this beloved story into a holiday delight for pint-sized theater enthusiasts. Hearts will melt as the nostalgic film classic comes to colorful life with holiday music, humor and merry elves.

November 21 – January 3
The Trains at NorthPark, NorthPark Center

The Trains at NorthPark benefiting the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas is the most elaborate miniature toy trains exhibit in Texas. More than 1,600 feet of track takes visitors on a journey across America, from New York City to the Golden Gate Bridge.

November 25 – December 26
A Christmas Carol, Dallas Theater Center

Dallas Theater Center’s hit production of the holiday classic A Christmas Carol returns to the Wyly Theatre. A Christmas Carol is a critically acclaimed, delightfully reimagined take on Dickens’ enduring classic. Join us as Scrooge returns to the Wyly Theatre, where the audience will be surrounded by magical ghosts flying above, scary ghosts bursting out of the floor and snow falling on everyone, bringing this timeless story to new life.

November 27 – December 23
Christmas at the Anatole

This holiday season the legendary Hilton Anatole Hotel will transform in to a winter wonderland complete with dazzling décor and festive programming. Featuring breakfast with Santa, face painting, Christmas-themed scavenger hunts and more, the Hilton Anatole is your home for the holidays.

November 27 – January 3
Christmas at the Dallas Symphony

The beloved holiday tradition returns! Christmas at the Dallas Symphony presents over 20 festive concerts from family favorite DSO Christmas Pops to the stunning acrobatics of Cirque de la Symphonie.

November 27 – December 23
Not a Creature was Stirring, Dallas Children’s Theater

Come along for an enchanting holiday fantasy hidden within the walls of a cozy farmhouse in this charming puppet show. Invite your children to journey with two adventurous mice as scurry to bring the spirit of the holidays home.

November 27 – December 24
Visits and Portraits with Santa, NorthPark Center

Capture memories of a lifetime with one-on-one visits and portraits with Santa Claus. Children feel right at home in Santa’s cozy living room, complete with a fireplace and holiday tree. Take photos with your own camera or purchase professional portraits by Marc Robins Photography!

November 28 – December 21
Holiday Cheer at Reunion Tower’s GeO-Deck

Santa, his elves and furry friends from the Dallas Zoo will spread holiday cheer from 470 feet in the air. Catch special sky-high appearances at the GeO-Deck as you enjoy the view from Dallas’ most iconic structure. Experience breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views, high-definition zoom cameras, interactive touch screens, telescopes, photo ops and an indoor/outdoor observation deck that lets you see for miles in any direction.

December 3
Holiday Tree Lighting Festival, Fair Park

Experience the magic of the season with a traditional tree lighting ceremony and an evening of family-fun festivities, complete with strolling Victorian carolers, carriage rides and more than 1 million lights illuminating the 277-acre park.

December 5
Reliant Lights Your Holidays, AT&T Performing Arts Center

Bring the entire family for an evening of holiday magic at the AT&T Performing Arts Center. Enjoy thousands of dazzling lights, a holiday concert and fireworks spectacular and photos with Santa set in a winter wonderland, complete with real snow.

December 16-27
Jersey Boys, AT&T Performing Arts Center

This award-winning musical it the true story of how four blue-collar kids from Jersey became one of the greatest successes in pop music history. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide, including their hit songs “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” and “Oh What a Night.”

Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl, Fair Park

Conference USA and Big 12 Conference teams face off in this exhilarating postseason gridiron match at the historic Cotton Bowl Stadium.

January 1
Day 1 Dallas, Fair Park

Ring in the New Year with a day of family fun! Day 1 Dallas takes over Fair Park with resolution-themed activities and vendors, performances by nationally known entertainers – including the talented Debby Ryan, star of Disney Channel’s Jessie – and a spectacular fireworks show.

International Pop, Dallas Museum of Art

Take a step back in time at the Dallas Museum of Art. Andy Warhol, David Hockney and Roy Lichtenstein are just a few of the artists included in this historical survey that chronicles the global emergence of Pop art from the mid-1950s to the early 1970s.

Alexander Gorlizki: Variable Dimensions, Crow Collection of Asian Art

This rich kaleidoscopic experience features works of art as diverse as embroidered handkerchiefs and plant-like hand-mirrors alongside exquisitely crafted paintings with obsessive floral and geometric patterns.
