Sento Café: Sarasa Nishijin

Sento Café: Sarasa Nishijin
This former sento (public bathhouse) is located in the residential Kuramaguchi-dori and operates as a café today.

Behind the inviting warmth of the wooden façade await the tiled walls of the café and warm sunlight streaming in through the skylight.

For your bags, the waiters will give you a plastic basket just like one you would find in a bathhouse.

With its high ceilings and stairs leading up and down, you can feel the open space in the café that bring to mind the steam-filled bath houses.

The café opens at 12 am every day except Wednesday and offers meals throughout the day and even sometimes hosts concerts.

As the café is very popular waiting times can be quite long so arriving just after they’ve opened at 12 am may be advisable.
