Sydney Hotels Set to Surge as Football Fans Flock to Sydney to See Liverpool Legends

Football fans are being urged to book tickets and accommodation fast for the star-studded football friendly between Liverpool Legends and Socceroos Legends at ANZ Stadium on 7 January, the latest event to be added to Sydney's Summer of blockbuster events.

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport, Stuart Ayres says the event, which will be held exclusively in Sydney, will attract football fans from all over the country.

“For Liverpool FC fans, football is more than just a game and this match is a unique opportunity to see Jamie Carragher, Ian Rush and Luis Garcia take to the field in a team led by Steven Gerrard, widely considered to be the greatest captain to wear the 'Reds' jersey. The 'Australian Legends' team will feature Mark Bosnich, Brett Emerton and Tony Popovic.

“I encourage everyone to book their tickets as soon as possible as this event is set to be one of the year's greatest football occasions and Sydney hotels will fill fast during this peak travel period,” Mr Ayres said.

Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer, Sandra Chipchase said the game is a great reason to book a trip to Sydney at one of the best times of year to visit the city.

“January is a spectacular time in Sydney, with the city's famous harbour at its shimmering best. Holiday-makers can enjoy refreshing ocean dips, long lunches in the sun and world-class Summer events,” Ms Chipchase said.

Fans who want to be close to all the action can stay at the stylish, five-star Pullman at Sydney Olympic Park. Positioned directly in the centre of the entertainment, business and exhibitions hub, the hotel is just minutes away from ANZ Stadium.

Also, located in the heart of the sports precinct, Ibis Sydney Olympic Park is the perfect option for families travelling to watch the game. The hotel features 144 modern guest rooms sharing the facilities with the adjacent Novotel Sydney Olympic Park.

For football fans who prefer the city life, one quirky option is QT Hotel, situated in the restored Gowings and State Theatre buildings in Sydney's CBD, features 200 sumptuous guest suites with unique design, luxurious bedding and indulgent oversized soaking tubs.

For those who want to experience Sydney's coastal lifestyle Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach features 111 apartments, a pool, gym and yoga room and is only a two minute stroll to beautiful Bondi Beach.
