A Vietnamese lantern festival will light up Wernigerode , Germany , during the Vietnamese Culture Week from July 26 to July 28, according to the Thanh Nien (Young People) daily.
The newspaper reports that Secretary of the Hoi An Party Committee Nguyen Su confirmed that a delegation from Hoi An will attend this cultural week, themed “Hoi An Lantern – Vietnamese Distinguished Guests”.
Last year, a delegation from Wernigerode City, led by Mayor Peter Gaffert, visited Hoi An City, and on this occasion the two cities signed a memorandum of understanding to boost cooperation.
During the Vietnamese Culture Week this year, the two sides are expected to sign an agreement to twin the two cities.
This is also a chance for businesses of the two countries and cities to learn more about each other and seek cooperation opportunities in infrastructure development, economy, culture and tourism.
Wernigerode is a small city in Harz County with a population of about 35,000 people.
