‘RHAPSODY’ OVER RECORD CRUISE SEASON

The 78,000 tone Royal Caribbean ‘Rhapsody of the Seas’ recently rolled into Sydney heralding the end of yet another record cruise season in the harbour city.

The Rhapsody of the Seas is a regular visitor to Sydney - finishing her sixth Australian season, carrying more than a quarter of a million passengers.

Roads and Ports Minister, Duncan Gay, said it had been an amazing season with 265 ship visits - more than 20 per cent up on the previous season which was 33 per cent up on the season before that. In order to accommodate for this growth, Mr Gay said the NSW Government will be investing $87 million into Sydney’s cruise facilities.

“This includes the $57 million state-of-the-art White Bay Cruise Terminal which was officially opened just last week and has been universally declared a great success.

“Plans also are underway on the $30-million Masterplan to revitalise the Overseas Passenger Terminal – to provide an improved passenger experience and enhanced efficiencies and turnaround times.
