Sirius Chamber Ensemble: Music for Wind Quintet and Piano

Sirius Chamber Ensemble
Sydney based Sirius Chamber Ensemble is quickly building a reputation as an exciting young group of musicians performing diverse works for woodwinds, strings, brass and piano. Since their launch in 2011, Sirius Ensemble has established a growing and loyal audience at its concert series, with highlights including the premieres of new works by Nigel Ubrihien and Adrienne Albert, and performances of many of the greatest chamber works written, including Beethoven’s Septet Op.20, Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet Op.115, Nielsen’s Wind Quintet and Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time.

For their Upper Hunter concert, Sirius Chamber Ensemble will bring a woodwind quintet and pianist Claire Howard Race to perform some of the greatest music for the combination. The program will include Beethoven’s Quintet for piano and winds, Francis Poulenc’s Sextet for piano and winds, Julio Medaglia’s South American dance suite “La Belle Epoch in Sud-America” for wind quintet, and Australian music by Kristofer Spike.

The musicians of Sirius Chamber Ensemble will also conduct an afternoon workshop for our students to be held in Singleton.
