Monster Jam, the internationally recognised motorsport event, will make its first and only Australian appearance at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on 19 October.
The exclusive event was announced by Minister for Tourism and Major Events, George Souris.
“I’m delighted to announce that we have secured this action-packed event for NSW direct from the USA. This spectacular event has never been seen before on our shores,” Mr Souris said.
“Western Sydney’s ANZ Stadium provides the ideal location for Monster Jam to stage its first and only Australian show on Saturday 19th October. More than two million people in 40 cities have been excited by the thrills and spills of Monster Jam shows, and NSW will now host the first ever in Australia.
“Securing this event through the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, reinforces our ability to attract world class events with our elite facilities. It is estimated that this event will bring almost $7.5 million of economic benefit to the state.”
Monster Jam, the fastest growing motorsports property in the world, is held over seven hours and sees 3 metre tall, 5 tonne monster trucks face off in two different forms of competition, side-by-side racing and freestyle competitions.
Every fan attending a Monster Jam event has the opportunity to meet the stars of the show during the pre-show ‘Party in the Pits’ and post-show autograph sessions.
Member for Drummoyne, John Sidoti, said that this event is yet another boost for Sydney, Homebush Bay and the surrounding precincts.
“Monster Jam is wildly popular not only in North America, but it attracts a global TV audience of more than 30 million a year on the SPEED Network, in over 20 countries across Europe, South America and Asia,” Mr Sidoti said.
“These major events showcase Sydney to the world and provide visitors with a chance to not only enjoy the sport but everything else our city has to offer.”
