Top Chefs Set to Join International Food and Wine Event in WA's Margaret River

Some of the biggest names in Australian cuisine will join international heavyweights at the inaugural Margaret River Gourmet Escape, set to be held in WA's South West from November 22 to 25, 2012.

International chef Sat Bains, whose Nottingham restaurant has two Michelin stars, acclaimed British writer and critic AA Gill, and Australian-based celebrity chefs Matt Moran, Neil Perry, George Calombaris, Tetsuya Wakuda and Peter Gilmore are among latest names to attend the festival.

Singapore-based Master of Wine, Lisa Perrotti-Brown and Nick Stock, one of Australia's most respected wine critics, will also appear.

The world-class line up already includes Heston Blumenthal, owner of the famous Fat Duck and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal restaurants in the United Kingdom, and Rene Redzepi, chef and owner at world number one restaurant Noma, in Demark. Australian names also already announced include Justin North of Becasse in Sydney, Perth star Matt Stone of Greenhouse in Perth and Dany Angove of Leeuwin Estate Winery in Margaret River.

A range of events will be held over the four days including:
- Gourmet Village. The village will be the heart of the festival, set in the iconic Leeuwin Estate. The aforementioned chefs in addition to 20 other Australian food and wine stars will appear here across the weekend in locally themed demonstrations, Q&A's, panel discussions and masterclasses. The village will be a vibrant hub with more than 100 WA-based premium exhibitors, local vineyards, gourmet producers, pop up restaurants and more.
- Satellite Events. A host of these events will be on offer so visitors can craft their own culinary adventure. Event menus will highlight the exquisite flavours of the local produce with creative and passionate interpretations by the hosting celebrity chefs and wine connoisseurs.
- Heston Icon Event. An exclusive collaboration by Australia's three leading chefs, Peter Gilmore from Quay, Neil Perry from Rockpool and Tetsuya Wakuda from Tetsuya's. The Margaret River Gourmet Escape in its inaugural year is honouring Heston Blumenthal for his creative and gastronomic contribution to the
industry.  Guests will delight in this star studded affair at Voyager Estate sharing their superior dining experience with the honoured guest. Tickets are limited for this truly one off event. 
- Gourmet Beach BBQ. Set to take place at Smiths Beach, one of the region's most picturesque locations, favourite Australian chefs including Matt Moran and Matt Stone are just two celebrities in an exciting line up to make guest appearances here. This unique experience will reflect the laid back sophistication of the South West region.
- Leeuwin Estate Winery Restaurant is thrilled to present an intimate dinner affair with international guest AA Gill and George Calombaris.  
- Attracting true appreciators of wine to the festival is Singapore based Master of Wine Lisa Perotti-Brown and Australian based wine guru Nick Stock. Sharing their taste for the Margaret River Region and Western Australian wines they will host masterclasses at the Gourmet Traveller Wine Theatre in the Gourmet Village.
Next to its reputation for exceptional food and wine, the Margaret River region boasts some of the world's most beautiful beaches, spectacular tall tree forests, cave systems, incredible surfing, whale watching and wildflower seasons, making it an extraordinary holiday destination for visitors from Australia and around the world.
