New Mobile Phone App For Visiting Cruise Passengers

Cruise Hunter has launched a new mobile phone website application to provide information specifically targeted at passengers on visiting cruise ships. Cruise Hunter has worked with local tourism stakeholders and businesses to develop the cruise web app to deliver opportunity to Hunter Region businesses in New South Wales Australia.. The development of the Cruise Hunter mobile app was made possible through funding received from Destination NSW's 2011-12 Regional Tourism Product Development Program

Cruise Hunter Co-ordinator, David Brown, said the purpose of the Cruise Hunter mobile phone website application is to cater to the large number of cruise ship passengers that choose not to conduct the pre-booked shore tours sold on board a cruise ship but are seeking things to see and do in Newcastle.

Visitors will access the app by simply typing a web address into their smart phone. Information about free Wi-Fi locations in the city will be provided to visitors as they disembark the cruise ship. The app is a new medium for visitors to access traditional maps and visitor guides and information and promoting the Hunter Region’s mix of tourism experiences.

Ten international cruise ships carrying 22,000 passengers will visit the Port of Newcastle for the 2012-13 cruise season between November and May next year.
