Every 3rd of March, families across Japan celebrate Hina Matsuri (aka Girls’ Day or Doll’s Day) to pray for the well-being of girls, by displaying ceramic dolls dressed in ornate costumes of the ancient imperial court.
The regional custom in Kyushu is to display these elaborate Edo-era dolls from January to April.
From hanging dolls to floating dolls, be awed by their extensive collection and exquisite craftsmanship at events like the Water Parade.
Tuck into a ceremonial kaiseki meal after the events to complete the cultural experience.
