It can be hard to describe the exact shade of blue in this enigmatic pond

Tucked in the forests of Biei, the colour of the Shirogane Blue Pond (Aoiike) can vary from milky blue to deep turquoise depending on the season and weather. 

Surrounded by a mystical forest that’s reflected on the water on clear days and made dreamingly beautiful by its submerged birch trees, this enchanting pond was actually unintentionally created as a by-product of a dam that was built in the nearby river to prevent potential volcanic damages.
