Abu Dhabi shoulder season arrivals surge from Australia

A record month of arrivals from Australia in September has seen Abu Dhabi’s shoulder season continue to grow - pushing total year-to-date arrival growth to 21 per cent equating to 3,014,728 visitors to the UAE capital.

Figures released today by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) show the September growth from Australia was up a staggering 40 per cent on September 2014, securing its position as one of the emirate’s top ten international source markets.

TCA Abu Dhabi Country Manager Michael Woods was excited to see such strong shoulder season growth ahead of the busy peak period.

“Travel to Abu Dhabi during the shoulder season has a range of benefits – with tourism experiences operating far more efficiently and accommodation rates often less expensive.

“I’m very confident Abu Dhabi will remain top of mind for Australians as we host the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final race on the F1 circuit later this month” said Michael.

The force of Abu Dhabi is also set to shine as this year’s most highly anticipated film Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits the Australian box office on 17th December, casting a spotlight on the emirate’s unique and diverse desert landscapes.

“By having a global franchise like Star Wars film in Abu Dhabi, we’re able to take movie-goers on an immersive experience of our ever-changing and awe-inspiring desert landscape and achieve massive exposure to an audience we simply couldn’t achieve through our campaign activity alone.

“We have a lot to look forward to and we’re truly excited to end the year on a high note” said Michael.

The Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will take place at Yas Marina Circuit from 27-29 November 2015. For more information and to book visit: www.yasmarinacircuit.com
