Singapore Airlines Confirms Daily Airbus A350-900 for Melbourne

Singapore Airlines has confirmed that from Thursday 11 May 2017 SQ208/207 will be operated daily by the all new Airbus A350-900.

The change in aircraft will deliver Melbourne customers an increase in Premium Economy options, with three of the four daily flights from Melbourne now offering the new cabin.

The Airbus A350 is fitted with 253 seats with 42 seats in Business class, 24 in Premium Economy class and 187 Economy class seats.

Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President, Mr Tan Tiow Kor, said the deployment of the A350 on a regular basis to Melbourne from May was good news for Victorian customers.

“We have seen good demand for our Premium Economy product in Melbourne,” Mr Tan said.
“I am sure the addition of a third flight that offers our Premium Economy cabin will be warmly welcomed by customers, as will the decision to operate the A350 on a daily basis.”

The deployment of the A350-900 daily from 11 May for flight SQ208/207 will see Melbourne serviced by two Airbus A350-900 aircraft until 30 June, when SQ218/217, currently operated by an A350 will revert back to an Airbus A380.
Customers who fly on the new A350 will also be able to take advantage of Singapore Airlines new first-of-its-kind companion app, found within the SingaporeAir phone and tablet app.
The companion app, which was developed for Singapore Airlines by MTT in conjunction with Panasonic Avionics, enables customers to review the IFE video and audio content that will be available on their flight, create pre-selected favourites lists, and control the seat-back IFE system – all using their personal electronic devices. Singapore Airlines' KrisWorld IFE system offers up to 295 movies, over 470 TV programmes and more than 450 CD albums each month.

Current features of the companion app will initially be available on the Airline's new fleet of Airbus A350-900s. About Singapore Airlines Singapore Airlines (SIA) has proudly operated services to Australia since 1967.
