Australia’s largest country music celebration kicks off in Tamworth!

Thousands of visitors have flocked to the nation’s country music capital for Australia’s largest country music celebration, with the 51st Toyota Country Music Festival officially kicking off in Tamworth, NSW. 

The mammoth 10-day event will bring together hundreds of nation’s best country music artists, including the most decorated Golden Guitar winner of all time Troy Cassar-Daley, multi award-winning artist Lee Kernaghan, ARIA Hall of Fame Inductee Kasey Chambers, country music legend John Williamson, rising star James Johnston, Golden Guitar winners and ARIA nominated The Wolfe Brothers, ARIA award winner Casey Barnes, 2022 Golden Guitar winner and ARIA nominated Adam Harvey, 2022 Roll of Renown inductee Beccy Cole, plus many, many more. 

Tamworth Regional Mayor, Cr Russell Webb said: “It is with great pleasure that I welcome everyone back to Tamworth for the nation’s largest country music festival. “After the past few years, we are excited to be back in our traditional timeslot of January and we’re ready for one big celebration with some of the country’s finest artists and up and coming stars.” 

The 51st event will officially kick off with the Opening Concert in Toyota Park from 7pm tonight, with a long list of stars ready to take to the stage including the top 2022 Golden Guitar winner, Shane Nicholson, 2022 Female Artist of the Year Ashleigh Dallas, 2022 Toyota Star Maker Max Jackson, 2022 Golden Guitar winner Angus Gill, 2023 Toyota Star Maker finalist Jacob Vincent, 2022 Golden Gig, Sponsored by Macca’s winner Mackenzie Lee, plus 2022 The Voice contestant and Golden Gig finalist, Lane Pittman, as well as students from the CMAA Academy of Country Music. 

“We have a stellar line-up of free and ticketed shows across the 10-days and I encourage everyone to purchase tickets tot their favourite shows now, to secure their spot!” said Mr Harley. “The 51st event will see many iconic events return, with the crowning of the 2023 Toyota Star Maker at the Grand Final concert on Sunday, 15 January in Toyota Park.” 

Other major events include The Golden Gig, Sponsored by Macca’s young talent search, which runs daily on the Macca’s stage; country music’s night of nights, the 2023 Toyota 51st Golden Guitar Awards on Saturday, 21 January and the 2023 Toyota Best of the Buskers will see the top buskers from across the 10-days go head-tohead on the final night of the Festival on Sunday, 22 January. 

“Fans will the chance to get up close to their favourite stars, with some of the biggest names performing on the FanZone stage across the 10-days,” said Mr Harley. “Plus, families and festival goers will also have plenty to see and do in the main Festival precinct with the dedicated Family Zone, Toyota Zone, market stalls, trader areas and buskers, and they’ll be free entertainment every night at the Festival’s largest outdoor venue, Toyota Park,”
