The great selection of lakes, dams and rivers in Lithgow offer all types of water based fun activities including water skiing, sailing, fishing, canoeing, swimming and even dragon boating.

With its designated swimming areas and powered campsites Lake Lyell Recreation Park offers fishing, jet and water skiing. Lake Wallace is a designated RV and camping area and a popular spot to fish, sail or swim. Enjoy a picnic or BBQ and let the kids have fun at the play area. An off the leash dog area is also available at Lake Wallace.

Thompsons Creek Dam is a great place to fish with plenty of big trout, many of trophy size.

Cox's River and Fish River are known for cool and clear flowing water with both having an abundance of small to middling size rainbow trout. Fish River is also well stocked with brown trout.

For the Family

Lithgow has plenty of fun activities on offer for the entire family. Some options include a dip in the pool at the aquatic centre, a round of golf, bushwalking, a trip to the playground or a session at the skate parks.

Creative Time

The creative and innovative highway runs through Lithgow. Each November the Lithgow Arts Trail is an amazing open studio weekend run by the many artisans and artists who call Lithgow home, a great way to start to discover some of the artistic and creative gems that make Lithgow so special.

The former cement works in Portland is now known as The Foundations. It is undergoing an exciting transformation, culturally reactivating this heritage industrial site. A visit to view the artwork on the solos created by renowned street artist Guido Van Helten is a must.

Lithgow also has galleries to explore, artists in residence, the Tales of Yesteryear Art Trail in Portland and art filled laneways off Main Street in Lithgow.
