Amber Lawrence announced as 2023 Galaxy of Stars inductee

Five-time Golden Guitar winner Amber Lawrence will take her place amongst the stars, with Tamworth Regional Council announcing her as the 2023 Galaxy of Stars inductee at the Toyota Country Music Festival in Tamworth, NSW.

The Galaxy of Stars was launched more than 20 years ago by Tamworth Regional Council to recognise artists who’ve made a significant contribution to Australia’s music industry.

Amber’s country music career began in 2004, where she competed in the Road to Tamworth talent competition, becoming runner up. She then became a finalist in the 2005 Toyota Star Maker competition and then released her first EP shortly after.

Celebrating her 20th Festival in 2023 Amber has been nominated for two-ARIA awards across her career, and has been awarded five Golden Guitars, including Female Artist of the Year in 2015 and her most recent award win in 2020 for Vocal Collaboration of the Year.

Toyota Country Music Festival Manager, Barry Harley said: “Amber is credited as being one of the most diligent and hard-working artists in the industry and I congratulate her on being named the 2023 Galaxy of Stars inductee,”

“This recognition is a testament to the person and artist that she is and the impact she continues to make on Australia’s country music scene.”

Amber was named the CMC Female Artist of the Year in 2015 and 2016 and in 2018 received five CMC Award nominations. She’s released three children’s albums and seven studio albums, with her ARIA Number 1 Country Album Living for the Highlights released in 2022, receiving a Best Country Album nomination at the 2022 ARIA Awards.

Amber Lawrence follows in the footsteps of some country music greats including the iconic Slim Dusty, who was the first ever Galaxy of Stars inductee in the year 2000. Since then, more than 30 other artists and groups have been inducted including, Troy Cassar-Daley, Lee Kernaghan, Kasey Chambers and John Williamson.

A special ceremony has taken place  and Amber’s plaque will now be installed at the Galaxy of Stars display in the forecourt at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre.
