Shizuoka / Toro Ruins

Have you visited the archaeological site that is near Tokyo?

Located in Shizuoka City, the Toro archaeological site is notable as the first of such sites to be found with remains of wet-rice paddy fields. This is where you get to see the ruins of a village from around first century (also known as the Yayoi period). The village includes 12 pit-houses which were discovered and restored.

By shinkansen and local bus, you can reach this archaeological site in about 1.5 hours from Tokyo and understand the life during the Yayoi period.
