Fate Brewing Company opens new location in Tempe

Fate Brewing Company opened its third valley location in Tempe on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. The new 6,000 square-foot brewpub is located in a former longstanding office complex that was completely renovated to match the midcentury modern structure of Fate's other locations. The brewpub features an indoor/outdoor wrap-around bar, an additional 2,500 square-foot beer garden, and a large, dog-friendly patio with two fire pits and lawn games. The High Gravity Room can accommodate private buyouts for large groups with a designated balcony bar. Fates' lunch and dinner menu remains the same and Brunch will start only on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Last month, Fate Brewing Company announced its return to its original name after reverting to the name McFate Brewing Company since 2016.

City of Prescott revamps the Prescott Heritage Trail with new History Hunt Adventure Guide

The Prescott History Hunt Adventure Guide features nine historical landmarks and cultural attractions, currently part of the Prescott Heritage Trail. There are questions or activities that pertain to each stop, to challenge young visitors and tourists. The adventure guide is a free, interactive tour created in collaboration with local organizations, historians, educators and community members to enhance the experience of the Prescott Heritage Trail.

The largest alligator outside Florida is now at OdySea Aquarium
For a limited time, the OdySea Aquarium in Scottsdale is hosting one of the biggest, most astounding alligators in the country. Weighing 800 pounds and 14 feet long, Mighty Mike has toured the country with Florida based reptile expert Bruce Shwedick, spreading the word for the conservation of the crocodilian species. In addition to their large size, American alligators also have one of the strongest bites of any living animal – 2,000 pounds per square inch. At OdySea Aquarium, Mighty Mike will demonstrate his powerful bite during his public feedings, which usually include four to nine pounds of meat — chicken, pork shoulder, large rodents, turkey, and rabbit.

Maswick South Lodging Complex undergoes $30 million rebuild and renovation

Xanterra South Rim, L.L.C., a concessionaire within Grand Canyon National Park, will be rebuilding and renovating the Maswik South lodging complex. The $30 million project will include demolishing the six existing lodging buildings and constructing four new ADA compliant buildings, reconstructing existing roads and adding one new section of road, replacing utilities, landscaping, and other site improvements. The four new lodging buildings will supply 120 mid-scale rooms, 30 of which will have kitchenettes. The project began in April 2019 and is expected to finish in 18 months.

Flight Service
New daily flight service from Phoenix to South Dakota and Mexico
American Airlines announced its service expansion at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport with the launch of daily, nonstop flights from Phoenix to Rapid City, South Dakota and Chihuahua, Mexico. The flight to Rapid City will begin Sept. 4, 2019 on a CRJ200 aircraft, which carries approximately 50 passengers. The flight to Chihuahua will start Dec. 18, 2019 and will operate on a CRJ700, which holds approximately 70 passengers. Both routes will be available year-round.

Phoenix travelers can now enjoy flying on 30-seat jets from private terminals to Burbank, Las Vegas, and Oakland
JetSuiteX, has announced that it will soon launch service from Phoenix Sky Harborto Burbank, Las Vegas, and Oakland. Customers traveling between these cities will be able to enjoy flying on 30-seat jets from private terminals with fares starting at $79 one-way. Starting August 30, 2019, JetSuiteX will offer three daily flights from Phoenix to Burbank. Flights from Phoenix to Las Vegas will begin on September 12, 2019, offering four daily flights. There will be three daily flights offered from Phoenix to Oakland, starting on October 1, 2019.

Accolades
Pedal Haus Brewery won four medals at 2019 Los Angeles International Beer Competition

Downtown Tempe's Pedal Haus Brewery ranked in the top three in four beer categories in the Los Angeles International Beer Competition. The brewery on Mill Avenue won two silver medals and two bronze medals. The Day Drinker Light Lager won a silver medal in the American-Style or German-Style Light Lager category and the Rauchbier Märzen won a silver medal in the Smoke Beer category. The bronze medals were awarded to Tmave Pivo, a collaboration with Pueblo Vida brewery in Tucson, in the European-Style Dark Lager/Munich-Style Dunkel category and the Bière Blanche in the Belgian-Style Witbier category.

Ed Mell becomes the seventh recipient of the Desert Caballeros Western Museum's Lifetime Achievement Award
Ed Mell, painter, sculptor, and illustrator, will become the seventh recipient of the Desert Caballeros Western Museum's Lifetime Achievement Award. The award will be presented at the annual heART of the West Gala in the Museum's Cultural Crossroads Learning Center in Wickenburg on Jan. 18, 2020. The heART of the West Gala pays tribute to people who reflect creativity and history of the American West, and to recognize those who inspire others while shaping the West's cultural legacy. There will be an exhibit of Mell's work in the Museum's Fisher Gallery from Dec. 21, 2019 through March 8, 2020.

New shuttle route from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon with National Park Express
National Park Express, a tour and transportation company, has announced an agreement with Amtrak Vacations, to transport visitors from Amtrak's Flagstaff stop to the Grand Canyon and other locations starting June 1, 2019. National Park Express offers shuttles to the Grand Canyon National Park, South Rim, as well as Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park and Antelope Canyon. Visitors can book one-way shuttles between these locations, as well as the surrounding Arizona communities such as Williams, Flagstaff, Sedona, and Page.

Family-owned watercraft rentals in Parker announces Spring Break hours and rates

Parker Watercraft Rentals, the family-owned and operated personal watercraft company on the Parker Strip, announced their spring hours and rates. Pending water levels, patrons are invited to enjoy the Parker Strip with Parker Watercraft Rentals starting at just $250 per day, plus tax and gas. Full day rentals are available 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. and include life jackets, all safety equipment, anchor, and dock line.

The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch Offers “Rock Your Staycation” summer deals

Centennial Celebrations in 2019
Grand Canyon Centennial, Grand Canyon National Park

The Grand Canyon celebrates 100 years of its designation as a national park. The Centennial year will feature virtual and in-park events throughout 2019 at the South Rim, North Rim, Desert View, Inner Canyon, and surrounding gateway communities.

The Centennial Summerfest and star party will take place on June 22–29, 2019. During the day, the Centennial Summerfest will bring together park partners to highlight Arizona. The star party, at night, will celebrate the Grand Canyon National Park designation as an International Dark Sky park. Visitors on the South Rim will learn about dark skies with the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association and on the North Rim with the Saguaro Astronomy Club of Phoenix.

Hotel Congress, Tucson
The hotel was established in 1919, but while digging up historical facts about Hotel Congress, the building was constructed in 1918 with a soft opening in November of that year. The celebrations will continue through 2019 with events toasting the hotel's dedication to serving the Tucson community.

Semicentennial Celebrations in 2019
Lunar Legacy, Flagstaff

On July 20th, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first person to set foot on the moon. All astronauts who walked on the Moon – including Neil Armstrong, Alan Shepard, and Buzz Aldrin – completed their training in Flagstaff, and at several other locations in northern Arizona. After 50 years, it is time to celebrate Flagstaff's scientific role in the Apollo Moon Missions of 1969.

Desert Caballeros Western Museum, Wickenburg
In 2019, The Desert Caballeros Western Museum (DCWM) will celebrate 50 years since opening its doors to the public on May 9, 1969. Originally founded by members of the Wickenburg community to preserve the history of the town, five decades of continued support from locals and visitors alike has transformed the Museum into a nationally celebrated center for Western art and history.
