The Inside Scoop on Interest in Indochina

The markets at Kratie, Cambodia
Asia travel specialists Insider Journeys have revealed that sales to Indochina destinations have grown year on year, with Laos small group journey sales up a significant 23% and Cambodia up 9%.

Passenger numbers to Vietnam also increased in the January-June 2016 period over the same period in 2015.

Managing Director Paul Hole attributes this growth to Australian travellers better understanding the depth of experience and beauty within Indochina.

“Indochina has so much to offer, with stunning scenery, fascinating culture, historic relics and ruins, and a renowned cuisine,” explains Hole.

“Our travellers have a seemingly insatiable appetite for new experiences. In response, we’ve increased our travel options and the destinations we cover across Indochina to provide continually more engaging experiences for our passengers. We’re introducing more options to visit lesser known places like Cambodia’s newest ‘in destinations’ - Kratie, Kampot and Battambang.

“Travellers are also starting to see Indochina as offering premiere beach options, especially in the resort locations near Danang and Hoi An in Vietnam, and Sihanoukville in Cambodia.

“We’ve seen increasing interest in touring and cruising in the Mekong Delta as small boat river cruising offers a unique opportunity to gain greater access and deeper insights into a traditional way of life along Asia’s most iconic waterways, witnessing a way of life that has remained relatively unchanged.”
