The Bucket List for Southeastern Utah's Moab Area

For memorable installments during you next vacation, try one or a combination of these Bucket List activities available to visitors of Moab Utah.

Drift with Canyonlands Hot Air Ballooning on the subtle air currents of the desert. There are two wicker baskets suitable to carry nine or sixteen passengers to make it a party. The pilot is ordained to preside over a wedding, an intimate wedding in a hot air balloon over the gorgeous desert.

Horseback riding upon the terrain of John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Rock Hudson, Henry Fonda and Anthony Quinn movies is nostalgic. Watch Rio Grande, Comancheros, Cheyenne Autumn, Taza, Son of Cochise or Warlock to get an idea of the abundant scenery enveloping a trail ride with Red Cliffs Lodge, Sorrel River Ranch & Spa, or Backcountry Trail Ride wranglers.

Two very region specific items not found most everywhere else in the world are historic sites of these ancestral residents. Embrace a Dinosaur or Archeology Tour with Tag-A-Long Expeditions, Hike Moab, or Canyonlands Field Institute for a narration of past events. Rock Art tours are also offered by Deep Desert Expeditions.

Canyonlands National Park received the Gold Tier designation as an International Dark Sky Park in 2015. Dead Horse Point (Utah) State Park became a Dark Sky Park in 2016. Take advantage of the night sky by telescope with Red Rock Astronomy.

A fear of heights will forbid participation. However, not everyone has acrophobia, so enrich your experience of canyon country with the following activities.

Tandem Skydive with Skydive Canyonlands or Skydive Moab. Both operate out of the Moab Airport twenty minutes north of town.

Canyoneering for deeper exploration of canyons can be undertaken regardless of an individual's age or physical ability. Several Moab companies provide confident guides to set the anchors, tie the knots for rappelling into otherwise unavailable realms. What a distinguished activity!
