The US’s Thrillist website has named Viet Nam’s Y Ty village among the best-kept secrets in Asia.
Y Ty is remote village in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai. Thrillist described Y Ty as a landscape “sitting atop Viet Nam’s highest plateau, offering spectacular views of cloud-reaching mountains and yellow rice patty fields.”
Tourists should get to know locals at Y Ty’s market, where surrounding ethnic tribes sell traditional crafts and agricultural goods.
“If you want to experience rural Viet Nam without straying far from the tourist center of Sa Pa, this is your spot,” the website stressed.
Other rankings on the website’s list are Kep (Cambodia), Vieng Xai (Laos), Gili Meno, Gili Islands (Indonesia), Sabah (Malaysian Borneo), Punjab (India), Pindaya (Myanmar), Kandy (Sri Lanka), Shikoku (Japan), Gorkhi-Terelj National Park (Mongolia), Busan (the Republic of Korea) and Jomalig Island (the Philippines).
