NSW has again shown that it's home to some of the country’s best tourism experiences after being awarded in more categories than any other State at the 2015 Australian Traveller People’s Choice Awards this week. The NSW winners were Jervis Bay (Best Camping), Blue Mountains (Cosiest Winter Destination), Blue Mountains (Best Bushwalking Journey), Byron Bay (Best Beachside Town), Hunter Valley (Best Wine Region), and Sydney Airport (Best Airport).
NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres welcomed the accolades and said this achievement would shine a light on NSW destinations and provide visitors with another compelling reason to discover what’s on offer. “With six World Heritage areas, 850 national parks and reserves, a coastline with over 720 stunning beaches, visitors to NSW are spoilt by choice and we are thrilled to see that our State has been praised by Australian Travellers’ readers,” Mr Ayres said.
Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said NSW continues to demonstrate its well-rounded, tourism appeal. “Whether visitors are exploring a particular part of NSW for the first time or returning after a wonderful first-time experience, we look forward to welcoming many more visitors to Australia’s number one tourism and events State and showcasing our award-winning destinations.”
