NSW MAJOR SPORTING EVENTS CAPITAL OF AUSTRALIA IN 2016

NSW has been confirmed as Australia's undisputed home of major sporting events, according to Sportsyear Report 2016.

NSW will host 24 major sporting events in 2016, more than double that of its nearest State rival.

The Sydney Sevens rugby, FAST4 tennis, American College Football, WRC Rally Australia in Coffs Harbour, two State of Origin matches, Bledisloe Cup, Bathurst 1000, World Baseball Classic qualifier and Australian Open Golf are some of the key events.
"Many of these events are staples of the NSW sporting calendar, and many we have worked extremely hard to secure through the tireless work of the State's tourism and major events agency Destination NSW," Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres.

NSW is set to deliver yet another packed major events calendar in 2016. "These events attract thousands of visitors, providing a boost to local hotels, restaurants and businesses and growing the NSW visitor economy," said Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase.
