Local Government and Shires Association (LGSA) Tourism Conference

 
Gunnedah
The Local Government and Shires Association (LGSA) Tourism Conference was held this week in Gunnedah, NSW Australia. The tourism keynote address was given by Sandra Chipchase, Chief Executive Officer of Destination NSW, covering issues such as Destination NSW’s 2020 target and plans to achieve it. Sandra also outlined new cooperative advertising programs, industry partnerships and business opportunities for regional NSW.

John Bates, Department of Trade and Investment, gave a presentation on destination management planning.

Gunnedah
Staff from Destination NSW’s Industry Services and Alliances team presented as part of the Tourism Managers’ Exchange on Monday. Barbara de Rome outlined Destination NSW’s services and resources available to tourism managers and operators and David Douglas explained the role and activities of the Tourist Attraction Signposting Assessment Committee. Stephen Wells from technology partner V3 gave an overview of the open booking platform, Tourism Exchange

Destination NSW had a stand at the conference with team members providing information and advice on
research tools such as the new Local Government Area profiles and tourism region snapshots, tourist signposting criteria, product development, regional marketing and event development and the Get Connected website membership program.

As in previous years, Destination NSW was an official partner in the LGSA Tourism Conference.
