Auckland city centre transformation

Auckland has a thriving economy making it a natural drawcard for people to live, work, play, invest and visit.

As a result the city centre is undergoing an exciting transformation to accommodate the growing population, and the record numbers of visitors now choosing to come here.

This is the largest programme of urban regeneration in Auckland’s history and once complete will mean improved transport links, a more connected and accessible Auckland, and a more globally competitive and desirable region.

Projects include:
  • The underground City Rail Link
  • New Zealand International Convention Centre
  • New visitor accommodation and residential apartments, retail, commercial and hospitality development

When you arrive in Auckland’s city centre, you will notice that these projects are well underway. Please be aware that this can cause traffic delays, particularly around the areas where noticeable construction is happening, so do allow extra time in your journey.

We are working closely with Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) and Tranzit Group to ensure this creates minimal disruption to TRENZ delegates.

Despite this activity, Auckland remains open for business, tourism and events throughout this transformation and visitors can be rest assured that Auckland will still deliver an exceptional visitor experience.
