Rendez-vous Canada: Where the World Meets Canadian Tourism

This spring, Winnipeg hosted Rendez-vous Canada (RVC)—the nation’s largest and most influential tourism tradeshow. More than 1,400 tourism professionals, buyers, and sellers arrived from across the globe, and the event generated tens of millions of dollars in new tourism business for Canada. Over 400 international and domestic buyers from 22 markets descended on the city to discover, experience, and invest in the best that Canada had to offer.

More than just a tradeshow, RVC served as a catalyst for long-term growth across Canada’s tourism sector. It was where global curiosity met Canadian opportunity.

Tourism: A $130 Billion Economic Powerhouse

In 2024, tourism poured $130 billion into Canada’s economy—translating to over $350 million in daily revenue. This massive contribution was driven by over 265,000 businesses embedded in 5,000 communities across the country. From Indigenous-owned eco-lodges in the Yukon to luxury accommodations in downtown Montreal, the sector reflected the diversity and depth of the Canadian experience.

RVC played an essential role in this success. By creating direct connections between buyers and sellers, it amplified international interest and helped put more Canadian destinations on global travel itineraries.

A National Stage for Local Stories

This year’s event brought together more than 800 sellers representing 500 Canadian tourism organizations—from large operators to grassroots entrepreneurs. Notably, Indigenous tourism took centre stage, offering attendees a chance to connect with authentic and culturally rich experiences rooted in storytelling, heritage, and the land.

Over 50,000 pre-scheduled appointments took place between buyers and sellers. These one-on-one meetings provided not only a chance to showcase products but also to form lasting partnerships that spanned continents.

Economic Impact That Reached Beyond the Venue

Hosting RVC in Winnipeg delivered a significant economic boost to the city. The total estimated impact was $4.6 million, with $2.8 million in direct economic activity—such as lodging, dining, and local services—and a further $1.8 million in indirect and induced benefits. More than 4,000 hotel room nights were secured, injecting fresh energy into Winnipeg’s hospitality sector.

But the benefits extended far beyond city limits. As international buyers returned to their home countries with a deeper understanding of Canadian tourism, they helped attract new travellers, drove future bookings, and elevated Canada’s profile in the global market.

RVC 2024: Showcased Canada, Shaped the Future

From the windswept coasts of Newfoundland to the rainforests of British Columbia, Canada’s tourism offerings remained as vast and varied as its geography. Events like Rendez-vous Canada played a vital role in sharing those stories with the world—and in ensuring that the economic and cultural benefits of tourism continued to be felt from coast to coast to coast.
