Sydney is the “greatest place in the world to shoot blockbuster films” according to Anywhere But You director Will Gluck.
Gluck, who directed the romantic comedy starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, said the crew were spoilt for choice when it came to shooting locations, taking their pick from “any part of Sydney we could possibly dream of”.
The director recalls a pivotal scene in the film where Powell’s character, Ben, lands via helicopter at the Sydney Opera House chasing Bea, played by Sydney Sweeney, “it was pretty crazy…a fun couple of days”.
Other locations in the Harbour City featured in the film includes Palm Beach, Bondi, Tamarama, QVB and George Street. Anywhere But You is Gluck’s third film shot in Sydney, following Peter Rabbit in 2018 and Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway in 2021.
In Sydney last week for a special screening event of the film, Gluck also commented on the momentum from Hollywood productions in recent years to come and shoot in Australia, and especially Sydney – the centre point of creativity in the Asia Pacific region.
Anywhere But You is in cinemas on Boxing Day.
