In just three short years Newcastle Food Month has become one of New South Wales’s most loved and certainly most exciting food festivals. In an announcement today, organisers have confirmed that the festival is back for its 4th rendition in April 2024.
Already program entries are flooding in, well ahead of previous years, many with innovative and creative new events, ensuring that the 4th Newcastle Food Month will be the biggest and best yet. With an exciting line up of sponsors and the plentiful program soon to be announced, the much-loved foodie festival will again feature the world-famous posh pop-up picnic, Le Diner En Blanc Newcastle with more than 1,000 guests again expected to frock up for the 2024 event to be held in a secret location on April 6th.
The April month-long program kicks off on the weekend of Easter 2024 and takes in the New South Wales School Holidays as well as the quasi-long weekend surrounding Anzac Day at the end of the month. The organsiers are excited by all these opportunities to offer every kind of foodie something in the 2024 program from family friendly to decadent dining.
Highlighting the culinary and creative talent of Newcastle’s burgeoning food scene, a plentiful program is fast taking shape, with an event for every kind of foodie. Food events are rumoured to include those that feature wine, beer, gin, whisky, cocktails, music and lots of cheese! Dine in hatted restaurants or on degustation’s any way you like them – French, Italian, Thai, Seafood or even matched with cocktails. There are takeovers in the planning by renowned chefs and winemakers, at some of Newcastle’s leading restaurants.
All the big names in Newcastle’s dining scene such as the Roundhouse at Crystalbrook Kingsley, The Flotilla and its new offshoot Vecina, newly hatted Humbug, Harrisons, Jana, The Elementa, Foghorn Brewery and Modus have designed their own unique events that will feature in the month-long program. There are new entrants from Newcastle’s up and coming neighbourhoods too, all eager to show off just how good the suburban dining scene has become in Newcastle in recent years.
Plate Date returns, with an anticipated 50 dining establishments offering a brunch, lunch or dinner, including a beverage for only $30. A terrific opportunity to test run Newcastle’s wide range of eclectic cafes, restaurants, and pubs, with the common denominator being incredible food and great value.
Event Organiser Louise Maher is excited about the program entries that the early call out has attracted already this year. “It’s exciting to see so many early entries into the program, and we are well ahead of where we have been in previous years in planning. There is already something for everyone who likes eating out, and on any budget.”
Organisers will soon confirm and announce sponsors who without their support, the events of this scale could not happen. The City of Newcastle have again provided significant funding through their Special Business Rates program and Destination NSW with Flagship Event funding.
“Over the past three years we have enticed thousands of Novocastrians to dine out in our fabulous restaurants, and this will continue. Last year more than 80 businesses were involved in Newcastle Food Month and that’s a stat we are really proud of, keeping our economy focussed on the great hospitality the region is known for. We are also committed to expanding our marketing and promotion into the Central Coast and Sydney to draw an increasing number of overnight visitors. In years to come we will turn our attention to the likes of Melbourne and Brisbane, to take advantage of our connections through Newcastle airport.” adds event organiser Louise Maher
The program launch will take place on 7th February 2024 at which time the full month-long program will be available at www.newcastlefoodmonth.com.au
