Who’s Cooking for Maui

Courtesy of Mercy Chefs
In response to the devastating events in Hawai‘i, chefs and eateries swiftly organised to provide aid. Food trucks traveled to West Maui to offer complimentary meals, while hotel restaurants repurposed their resources to feed displaced families and responders.

The collective effort has resulted in an estimated 15,000 fresh hot meals being distributed daily across the island. This number doesn't include the generosity of restaurants that have opened their doors to those in need. Collaborations have formed among organisations like World Central Kitchen, Chef Hui, and Common Ground Collective, alongside Salvation Army Hawai‘i, Hawai‘i Red Cross, and Mercy Chefs. Both individual restaurants and dedicated volunteers, even those who faced personal losses, have united to make a difference.

In addition, House of Mana Up, a collective of local Hawaiian product companies, is generously donating 100% of August's profits from online and retail sales to aid Maui's relief. Meanwhile, on Maui, Mama's Fish House kitchen crew is tirelessly providing almost a thousand meals daily to survivors and first responders. Chef Sheldon Simeon, of Tin Roof, Tiffany's, and Lineage fame, remains deeply committed to supporting Maui's communities during this challenging period.
