Early Summer Treats at Yamazato Japanese Restaurant

To celebrate the arrival of summer, Master Chef Shigeru Hagiwara at award-winning signature Japanese restaurant Yamazato, which was recently awarded the Michelin Plate designation for the second year in a row in the Michelin Guide Thailand, is laying on authentic seasonal tastes of Japan with special Early Summer Gozen lunch platters and a multi-course Kaiseki dinner.

Highlight ingredients include royal fern, sweet fish and pike eel. Also known as conger eel and Hamo in Japan, pike eel is considered a summer treat, particularly in the Kansai region where it is popular for its flavour and nutritious energy-giving properties.

The first Early Summer Gozen platter includes a starter of simmered pike eel, shrimp, mushroom and okra with sesame cream sauce. The seafood theme continues with a soup of scallop dumpling, shimeji mushroom and green vegetables with a touch of citrus yuko. The second platter features a simmered dish of eggplant, taro, pumpkin, sweet fish, okra and carrot with yuzu, and a rice dish with crabmeat served with traditional pickles and miso soup.

Among offerings of tempura, noodles, and sashimi dishes, stars of the Kaiseki dinner menu are grilled dishes of Spanish mackerel with tomato miso sauce, and pork belly roll with baby corn, dried cassis, paprika and pickled myouga.

Early Summer Gozen lunch platters and Kaiseki dinner are available at Yamazato Restaurant from 1 – 23 June 2019, lunch 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., dinner 6 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. Priced at Baht 1,500++ per person for Gozen lunch and Baht 4,700++ per person for Kaiseki dinner.
