Arriving on 20 charter flights across five delegate waves between 17 November and 7 December, guests were greeted with three weeks of exceptional organisation and uniquely Australian experiences. Cairns became a hub of activity as Korean Air and Asiana Airlines delivered back-to-back flights timed to optimise hotel turnover and touring schedules.Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns played a pivotal role, hosting delegates for the duration. With 5536 room nights managed at record pace, the hotel executed three-hour room turnarounds, catered 900 breakfasts per wave, and prepared specialised menus created with the expertise of three in-house Korean chefs. Each group was welcomed with personalised touches including custom room keys, curated hampers and local gifts.

Delegates enjoyed two full days of immersive touring, showcasing the diversity of the Cairns & Great Barrier Reef region. Highlights included the Daintree, Kuranda, Atherton Tablelands, Port Douglas and time spent on the iconic Great Barrier Reef. Wildlife encounters were a major hit, with opportunities to meet koalas, pythons, crocodiles and native lizards.Fogarty Park was transformed into a relaxed festival space upon arrival, complete with music, handcrafted mocktails, local gelato and interactive Indigenous experiences. Workshops led by Traditional Owners invited delegates to participate in boomerang throwing, jewellery making, painting and didgeridoo demonstrations.

Welcome festivities began with a vibrant evening at Hemingway’s Brewery, featuring live music and fireworks. The closing gala at the Cairns Convention Centre captivated attendees with a rainforest-themed entrance, dancers, aerialists and an atmosphere celebrating the natural beauty of Tropical North Queensland.As the appointed Destination Management Company, Arinex ensured authenticity and cultural respect were woven throughout the program. With deep collaboration from the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji and Yirrganydji peoples, the event honoured the region’s Traditional Custodians at every stage.
