A New Cultural Landmark in Chiang Mai: The Dibba Yana Chitta Museum Opens at Anantara Chiang Mai Resort

Chalermchai Kositpipat
Honouring a Masterpiece by Thailand’s National Artist

Anantara Chiang Mai Resort has officially opened the Dibba Yana Chitta Museum, commemorating one year since the unveiling of the extraordinary Dibba Yana Chitta vessel. Created by Thailand’s revered National Artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, best known for the iconic White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) in Chiang Rai, this remarkable work of art now takes centre stage as Northern Thailand’s newest cultural attraction.

The museum pays tribute to the exceptional craftsmanship behind Dibba Yana Chitta, showcasing nine intricate scale models that reflect the artistry, detail and spiritual symbolism of the original vessel. It also honours the collaboration between Chalermchai Kositpipat and master bronze artisan Charoen Maboot of Phayao province, whose combined vision preserves and elevates Thai artistic heritage.

Introducing the Exclusive Dibba Yana Chitta Collector’s Edition

To mark the museum’s grand opening, Anantara Chiang Mai Resort has unveiled the Dibba Yana Chitta Collector’s Edition, a limited series of just 19 handcrafted models. These exclusive pieces present a rare opportunity for collectors to own an exquisite object d’art that represents centuries-old craftsmanship, cultural depth and the creative spirit of Northern Thailand.

Each collectible model echoes the original vessel’s meaning and encapsulates the artistic integrity that defines Chalermchai’s work, making it a treasured keepsake for enthusiasts of Thai culture and fine art.

A Vessel of Discovery: The JAO Ping River Cruise Fleet

Dibba Yana Chitta is one of three signature vessels in the resort’s JAO Ping River Cruise fleet, offering travellers unforgettable journeys along the picturesque Mae Ping River. Whether exploring historic temples or indulging in a serene sunset voyage, each experience highlights Chiang Mai’s rich cultural and riverfront charm.

Guests can select from several curated cruises including:
  • Morning Voyage to Wat Ket Karam
  • Afternoon Tea Cruise
  • Sunset Cruise
  • Dibba Yana Chitta Dinner Cruise

The dinner cruise now features a newly launched menu crafted by Michelin-starred Chef Boy Piyachart Phuttawong of Saneh Jaan, Bangkok. Drawing inspiration from royal recipes of the early Rattanakosin period, harmonised with Chiang Mai’s local flavours, this culinary experience is available throughout the festive season.

A Celebrated Opening Ceremony
