World-Class Talent Joins the Sydney Stage

Disney’s iconic musical, THE LION KING, is set to roar back into Sydney at the Capitol Theatre in April 2026. The principal cast features some of the finest talent from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and the Philippines, delivering a world-class theatrical experience for audiences both new and familiar.

Returning Stars and New Faces

Buyi Zama reprises her celebrated role as Rafiki for the third time in Australia, having previously charmed audiences in the 2003 and 2013 tours. Originally from South Africa, Zama now calls Australia home and brings a wealth of experience and energy to the iconic role.

Nick Afoa, hailing from New Zealand, steps into the role of Mufasa, continuing the circle of life. Afoa made his theatre debut as Simba twelve years ago and later performed on London’s West End. The rest of the principal cast blends fresh talent and seasoned performers, including Benn Welford as Zazu, Jamie McGregor as Timon, Rutene Spooner as Pumbaa, Aphiwe Nyezi as Simba, Emily Nkomo as Nala, Winston Hillyer as Banzai, Ezra Williams as Shenzi, and Mat Verevis as Ed.
