The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched the latest version of the world’s favourite family game – ‘Monopoly: Chiang Mai Edition’ – the second of special Thailand editions following the success of the Monopoly: Phuket Edition.
The Monopoly: Chiang Mai Edition is created by Winning Moves UK under license from the Monopoly owners Hasbro and in partnership with TAT. Winning Moves UK also releases a Chiang Mai edition of the popular card game Top Trumps.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said “The launch of the Chiang Mai editions of Monopoly and Top Trumps games marks a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to showcase Thailand through engaging and innovative partnerships. We want to drive travellers to immerse themselves in the destination and extend their stay by having more meaningful experiences and engaging with the local communities and their captivating charm. Both games represent an enticing reason to visit Thailand and a fun souvenir for those who spend their holidays here.”
The new Monopoly: Chiang Mai Edition board game is set to immerse players in the rich tapestry of Chiang Mai’s culture, history, and landmarks. The game features more than 30 locations and activities in Chiang Mai, including Doi Ang Khang, Bua Tong Waterfall, Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, Chang Moi Road, and Doi Inthanon which features on the ‘most expensive’ side of the board on a dark blue space.
The official launch of MONOPOLY: Chiang Mai Edition took place on 11 October 2023 at The Chiang Mai Old Town Hotel. The highly anticipated launch event included an official reveal of the special edition MONOPOLY board by Mr. Monopoly himself! The memorable and successful evening marked the beginning of an exciting journey through the streets of Chiang Mai for board game enthusiasts and Chiang Mai enthusiasts alike.

Monopoly: Chiang Mai Edition and Chiang Mai Top Trumps are available for purchase at select retail outlets across Chiang Mai, including at Asia Books, Golden Goblin Games, Fizzy, Game Tree, Alurfia in Shelter, Time to Table, The Chiang Mai Old Town Hotel, Panyaden International School, and Unity Concord International School. They can also be purchased through online channels.
The Monopoly: Phuket Edition was launched in March 2022 and is available at numerous stores and venues in Phuket and through online channels.
