The new Winter Lights Walk World, a 1.5-kilometre promenade through Skansen lined with sound installations, opens on 27 October 2023, in the middle of the Swedish winter darkness.
Light walks of large-scale installations have been a success in North America and parts of Europe but, in Sweden, it is a new concept.
Located in the middle of the green island of Djurgården in Stockholm, Skansen is the world's oldest open-air museum.
It was founded in 1891 by Artur Hazelius and attracts 1.4 million visitors annually. During the lights walk, buildings dating back to the 1800s will be decked with light installations.
Gunnebo Castle and Gardens in Mölndal will unveil their Winter Lights on 16 November 2023. www.Lightupyourwinter.com, www.skansen.se/en/ and www.gunneboslott.se/en/
