Vietjet on 27 September has officially announced a direct route between Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Tiruchirappalli (India) which will start flying on 2 November 2023, with three return flights per week initially.
Flights depart from Tiruchirappalli at 00:30 (local time) and land in HCMC at 7:00 (local time) every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Meanwhile, return flights depart HCMC at 20:00 (local time) and arrive in Tiruchirappalli at 23:30 (local time) every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
The direct route from Tamil Nadu to Vietnam marks an important milestone for the development of Tiruchirappalli Airport and the tourism industry of the two countries. It is expected to further promote tourism, economic and trade cooperation, and development of bilateral relations between Vietnam and India.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Jay L Lingeswara – Vietjet’s Vice President of Commercial said, "Along with the flight from Kochi to Ho Chi Minh City, this new route showcases Vietjet's capability to connect the southern region of India with Vietnam cities by air, which open up more opportunities for travel and trade exchanges with reasonable costs and good services."
The new route will potentially benefit Indian-born people living in Australia (approximately 710,380 by the end of June 2021) who are looking for a more cost-effective alternative to travel back to India. From 2 November 2023, Vietjet will operate 35 weekly round-trip flights connecting five Indian destinations including New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Tiruchirappali with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam, using a modern fleet of aircraft.
According to Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the number of Indian travellers to Vietnam in the first 6 months of 2023 increased by over 200% as compared to pre-pandemic 2019’s and has placed India in the top 10 inbound markets of Vietnam.
Known as a prominent economic, cultural, and tourist centre of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City embodies a unique local culture and a modern metropolitan's fast-paced lifestyle. It is also a key hub that connects cities within Vietnam and regional international destinations.
Additionally, the diversity of colours, scents, and sounds are the characteristics of the “Pearl of the Far East," strengthening Ho Chi Minh City's position as one of the most popular Asian tourist places among independent travellers, couples, and families.
From Ho Chi Minh City, Vietjet can take tourists to explore Vietnam's famous coastal regions such as Da Nang City and Nha Trang City, etc. via the airline's extensive flight network, convenient flight hours, and reasonable ticket prices.
The airline is offering a special promotion from 25 September to 25 October 2023 applicable to Business and Skyboss seats (*) for flights within the entire domestic and international network of Vietjet. The travel dates range from 1 October to 30 November 2023.
