Ví and Giặm folk songs Festival is an activity that concretizes commitments in implementing tasks and solutions to protect Vi and Giam folk songs of Nghe Tinh after 9 years of UNESCO’s Inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Thereby, to promote and introduce to citizens and international friends the quintessential and unique values of Ví and Giặm folk songs in particular and the history and culture of Nghe An countryside in general; while promoting the strengths of heritage.
Activities to take place at the Festival include: Opening ceremony; Nghe Tinh Ví and Giặm folk songs (provincial level, inter-provincial level); The three regions folk song and instrument contest; Marathon "Journey to Ví and Giặm land"; Street festival “Colours of heritage regions” and the Closing Ceremony of Festival.
Ví and Giặm folk songs Festival is expected to take place in Vinh City and some districts and towns in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces. As per schedule, the opening ceremony of Ví and Giặm folk songs Festival will take place on the evening of 28th July 2023 and will be live on VTV and NTV.
Ví and Giặm folk songs are sung by a wide range of communities in Nghệ An and Hà Tĩnh Provinces (Nghe Tinh land) of North-Central Viet Nam; Inscribed in 2014 on the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
