Taronga Conservation Society Australia CEO Cameron Kerr AO said that Wild Lights at Taronga Zoo is an incredible opportunity to shine a light on conservation and build everlasting connections with the planet’s remarkable wildlife.

“We are beyond excited to share the atmosphere that Vivid Sydney brings to Taronga and this year is going to be bigger and better than ever! With some amazing new installations and the option to redeem your Parent or Discover NSW Vouchers, there’s never been a better time to visit.

“Wild Lights at Taronga Zoo is a fantastic, inclusive and inspirational initiative that not only offers an amazing night out but connects people from around the globe with wildlife and the views of our stunning Sydney Harbour,” Mr Kerr said.

Along with 18 festival-favourite, animal lanterns including a lion pride and gorilla troop, Wild Lights at Taronga Zoo will introduce guests to a number of new lanterns, under the theme “Where Nature Shines”, inspired by all creatures great and small.

Minister for Tourism Stuart Ayres said visiting Taronga Zoo’s Wild Lights is a must in this year’s Vivid Sydney program.

“Taronga’s night walk, animal lanterns, light installations and projections are sure to delight,” Mr Ayres said.

“Whether you book an overnight stay or visit Taronga Zoo for an evening, this year’s Wild Lights will fascinate young and old and offer incredible viewing of Vivid Sydney back across the Harbour from Taronga’s iconic Sky Safari. If you haven’t used them already, I encourage visitors to use their Parent or Discover NSW Vouchers at Wild Lights at Taronga.

Minister for Environment James Griffin said a visit to Wild Lights at Taronga Zoo is a great opportunity to connect with wildlife and support Taronga’s vital conservation work.

“I can’t think of a better opportunity than Wild Lights at Taronga Zoo to get the family together and teach the little ones about how we can all help to protect and conserve our wildlife,” said Mr Griffin.

“Encouraging our kids to develop a passion for nature when they’re young will help us ensure our environment and wildlife are better protected into the future.”

Showcasing Taronga’s commitment to equality and a shared planet for all will be three new immersive and inclusive pieces contributed by inaugural access and inclusion partner Cushman & Wakefield. The collection has been informed by inclusive and universal design principles to enable a sensory experience fuelled by creativity and curiosity and includes:
  • The Imaginasium: an incredible dome-shaped sculpture designed by Sydney-based visual artist Digby Webster
  • Up, Up and Away: three, 6.5-meter-tall wing installations; and
  • Twist It: A 4m tall, towering tornado centrepiece.

“We are delighted to partner with Taronga Zoo and shine the spotlight on access and inclusion. Under the theme of one planet for all, we believe that no matter what the level of ability, everyone should be able to enjoy the magic of Vivid Sydney at Taronga Zoo” said Anna Town, Head of Business Development Services at Cushman & Wakefield.
